RUNNEMEDE, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — A South Jersey auction house is offering what could be touted as a piece of history if you’ve got deep pockets and strong feelings about President Donald Trump.
There’s a copy of the impeachment report authored by House Democrats, with the president’s signature on the cover page.
Ken Goldin, who owns Runnemede-based Goldin Auctions, says the item is unique, not just for its content, but its timing as well.
“For a sitting president to sign their impeachment documents and sign it on the actual day that the House of Representatives impeached him is very significant, surprising, and certainly historic,” Goldin told KYW Newsradio.
And he adds there’s been a lot of interest from people since the online auction opened three weeks ago.
“This is certainly one of the five highest profile items and most talked about that we’ve ever sold,” he added.
At least for something that’s not sports-related.
Goldin says a supporter of the president attended a Michigan rally on the evening of Dec. 18 and got the autograph at a private meet and greet event.
Goldin has two experts authenticating the signature is legit and the item has gained lots of online interest.
As of Tuesday evening, the item in lot 16 has a top bid of $17,000. But Goldin expects the document to go for $50,000 by the time the online auction ends Saturday night, and he wouldn’t be surprised if it garners five times that.
Pre-registration is required here to take part, and you have to prove you can afford it.
