- The Kisii leaders dismissed Nyali MP Mohammed Ali’s motion saying they will defend CS Matiang’i, who they described as a ‘son’ of the Gusii community by all means
- MP Samuel Arama noted that Matiang’i commands respect among all Kenyans, which was why he was being fought
- Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati asserted that the cartels had paid the Nyali MP to front the impeachment motion
Leaders from the Kisii community are now united to thwart an impeachment motion against Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Fred Matiang’i.
The motion against Matiang’i was fronted in the house by Nyali MP Mohammed Ali and has received backing from a section of leaders from the Tanga Tanga brigade.
Motion by Ali sponsored by cartels
According to the lawmakers from Gusii land, the motion was being fronted by ‘cartels’ who claimed to have been frustrated by the tough-talking CS.

In a report filed by Daily Nation, Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama noted that Matiang’i commands respect among all Kenyans, which was why he was being fought.
“Matiang’i has been fought many times, and he has emerged triumphant; it is clear that the Tanga Tanga group is fighting him, but they are headed nowhere,” Arama said.
Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati asserted that the cartels had paid the Nyali MP to front the impeachment motion saying the motion was going nowhere since Kenyans will not allow corruption to thrive.
”Matiang’i is the Gusii community kingpin. The direction he will take is the one we will follow. But, right now, he is performing assignments given to him by Uhuru perfectly,” said Arati.
North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko asserted that any Gusii lawmaker who had signed the motion is an outcast in the community.

“We will stand with our son. We know his potential and we know why he is being fought. Those fronting the motion are busy bodies,” Nyamoko said.
MPs sign petition to impeach Matiang’i
One day ago, TUKO.co.ke reported that legislators in support of Matiang’i’s impeachment, majority of whom are allied to Deputy President William Ruto, were signing a petition seeking to impeach Matiang’i.
The powerful state official was accused of, among others, contravening Chapter Six of the constitution touching on leadership and integrity.
“I recommend the removal of the Interior and Co-ordination of National Government CS on the following grounds: (1) Contravention of article 73 in the constitution which touches on leadership and integrity; He has failed to tame extrajudicial killings in the country and always defending the police whenever they are implicated in such acts,” partly reads Mohamed Ali’s notice of motion.

The notice will await the National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi’s approval.
